Eunice's 3rd tooth.....

Eunice lose her 3rd tooth on Friday night. The last 2 teeth were so loose that Andrew pulled them out for her. The 3rd tooth was by Eunice herself. Her tooth was so loose for the last 2-3 days. She asked me before whether she should ask Daddy to pull it out or not. I told her that your tooth was still a little bit tight. Not right now la... Plus Eunice had the appointment with Dr. David Chan (Dentist) on Monday. I told her that if the tooth was not ready to pull out yet, then we could ask Dr. Chan to do it for you. She was OK.

On Friday evening, we went back to grandparent's house for dinner. Eunice told daddy that her tooth was very, very loose. Daddy said that he would pull it out after dinner. Suddenly, Eunice said "Wow! My tooth is out." She split out her tooth. She was so excited that the 3rd tooth was taken out by herself. She was very happy.

That night before bed, Eunice kept on telling me one thing. "Mom, do you know that some words I can't pronoun? I have a hole in my mouth." She said. She repeated this more than 3 times just in case I forgot. I felt that Eunice was very proud of herself.

Eunice's first skating class

Eunice had her first skating class on Sunday. Before the class, she was so hesitate to go. She told me that she did not want to skate. She asked so many questions such as "It looked hard", "What happened I fall down", "Am I the only one who doesn't know how to skate" etc.... By the way, she is just in Level 1 (beginner). Andrew tried to comfort her and let her to listen to the Men hockey game on MP3 (final game).

It is the time to go in the ice. She fell and fell and walked and walked and crawled and walked and crawled and fell. Every time she fell and then she looked up to the audience side to search for Andrew and me and then she was up again and walked again. She did not want Andrew and me to look at her. I just pretended to look around. Then she fell down again. She looked up again and crawled. After a few time, she had the technique to walk again.

For the first class, she was doing OK la. In order to encourage her to do better next time, we have a special dinner (Japanese) - Eunice & Isaac's favourite... The reason is not only because she wants to go to the skate class but also she does not give up on the ice.

At the end of the skate class, she was sweating. While she was changing the skater, she said that she had lot of fun and she was excited to go again next week. Way to go Eunice!

Eunice's 2nd missing tooth

Eunice has her 2nd loosing tooth. It was a little bit special this time. The adult tooth is coming out behind the baby tooth. The baby tooth is still here. I thought that she was strange. When I talked to the parents from school, some of them said that their kids had the same situations.

One day, one of Eunice's classmates came to me and told me that she had 4 teeth (2 adult teeth behind 2 baby ones). She was so excited. After a few weeks, she come to me again to show me that the 2 baby ones were gone. At first, I was worried about Eunice's double teeth. However, after all the conversations, I was so amazed how God created our body.... So amazing....

Do you remember how to have your adult teeth? Do you still keep the tooth for the tooth fairy to come? My daughter still had her 1st tooth and was waiting for the tooth fairy to come.

A few days ago, Eunice was complaining that she could not chew food. She could only eat soft food. The tooth was so loose that it almost fell off. We tried to tell her to chew food by the side but she couldn't. We tried to tell her that daddy was going to pull it off but she refused to do it. She wanted the tooth to come out by itself. 2 days later, she kept on telling me that the tooth was loose. I told her that the tooth would fell off before Chinese New Year. Don't worry! On the same night, daddy wanted to pull the tooth out. Then we all said, "1, 2, 3 off it go!" "Yeah!" Eunice screamed. The tooth is out and she was so happy. The most important thing is she can EAT again.

Eunice's missing tooth

Eunice has a loose tooth for a few months already. This few days she complained about the loose tooth all the time. Every time when she want to chew something, the loose tooth was hurt. So we told her to eat something soft and don't eat chips or something hard to chew. She refused.

On Saturday night, we went out for dinner after Awana Club. In the middle of the meal, she cried and complained about the loose tooth again. This time, the blood was coming out from the loose tooth area. We asked the waiter to get some ice water and Eunice drank it. She felt better. She still could finishing her dinner.

After Sunday School on Sunday, she was holding the rice krisper. She was so enjoy the rice kripser that she also forgot her loose tooth. However, when she came to the table for lunch, same thing happened. She complained about the loose tooth again. I took a look on her tooth and found out it was really loose. So I asked Eunice to give it a little push. It was still here. Then I give a little more push... The tooth came out. Eunice yelled and said "Yeah! I have a missing tooth.... lalalalala... I am the same as Jennie (her schoolmate) lalalala...." She was so happy about the missing tooth and Isaac wanted to take a look of it too.

After a while, Isaac told me that he wanted a missing tooth too... So silly boy!

Since then, Eunice was so happy and enjoyed all her food....

The month of February... SICK

February was a very busy month for our family. Isaac got a cold and was coughing on Feb 2nd. We went to the Children Hospital ER at 3:00am and stayed until 5:00am. It was a tough day for Andrew because he had to go to work. Isaac was away from school for 3 days. He was getting better for 1 week. Then he got cold again. I really did not know when and how he got the cold. I was so tired. I just prayed that he would get well soon. The second time he got the cold. We went to the Children Hospital ER again on my birthday day (Feb 16th) at 7:00pm. We arrived the ER at 7:30pm and waited until 8:30pm to get a room for Isaac. He stayed in the hospital ER for 4 hours until almost 12:30am. He was again away from school for 4 days.

On the day that he went back to school, I began to sick. I was vomiting in the middle of the night 4 times. My stomach and tummy were so pain that I was hardly going to sleep. I still remembered my dream on that night was someone was trying to feed me all night long. I refused to eat and then I woke up and I felt the pain in my tummy. Then I fell asleep again and again with the same dream. So scary!!!! The next morning, I dropped off Isaac to school and Eunice to the dentist's office with my weak body. I did not eat or drink but thanks God I could drive... After I picked up Isaac from school, we went back home. Eunice and Isaac went upstairs to draw pictures in Eunice's room. I slept for 1 hours. They came down and asked for lunch. I made lunch and fruits for Isaac and Eunice. Then I turned on the TV Treehouse. I told Eunice and Isaac, "Mommy is very sick. When you finish your lunch, please have your fruit. Then watch TV for a little while and let me sleep. OK?" They were very very very good. They let me sleeping for almost 2 hours. I was feeling better that I could drive Eunice to the Chinese class at 4:00pm. When I went back home, I was vomiting again 2 times. Isaac was so good that he stayed in Eunice's room to draw pictures and read books. I was sleeping again. Andrew came home and picked up Eunice from Chinese class and had dinner with the kids.

It was a sick month for both Isaac and me. However, I still thanks God for all this because my loving daughter and son were so considerable. They cared about me. My loving son has been praying for me during my sickness. My daughter told me that I have to get well and don't die. She took good care of Isaac while I was sick. My husband did all the housework and took care of the two kids including feeding them, having shower for them, making them to sleep etc...

3 more days before March... No more sickness... Stay healthy...

First time with Eunice alone...

Today is a very special day. Sept 12, 2008. Nothing really special for most of you but this is very special for Eunice and me. I am dating with Eunice. HAHAHAHA!

Studying at VCS for Kindergarten for Eunice only has to attend class on Mon, Wed and alternate Friday. Today is Eunice's day off. Yeah! Yesterday, Eunice and I talked about what we should do during Isaac is at school... However, we didn't come up anything.

Eunice woke up at 7:00am this morning (normally at 7:30 - 7:45am and I have to wake her up). She came to my room and slept with me. She could not fall back to sleep. Then at 8:00am, everyone woke up and got ready for school. After breakfast, we went to Isaac's school. Eunice was so happy to see all the old teachers. Hug and laugh and talk about the school etc.... After dropping off Isaac, I asked Eunice whether she would like to go to Metrotown. She thought for a few seconds then she said Ok. She continued to ask whether she could go to Disney Store. She was so happy and excited in the van as I drove to Metrotown. I haven't seen her so happy before. Then we walked by DQ and bought a juice to drink. Went up to Disney Store. She was so excited. Actually she has been Disney store for so many times. This time was so special because it was without Isaac and daddy. She touched almost everything and watched the TV and played the toys. When I told her to leave, she was so ready and no whinning.

Then we went to Superstore to buy a few things and went to McDonald's for kid's meals for lunch. She was cheerful, helpful and I enjoyed the time with her alone too. Isaac was born when Eunice was 1 1/2. After that, she always has Isaac besides her which is good for both of them. However, I find out that I don't have much time for Eunice because when she went to school, I was with Isaac. Never have a special mom-daughter time with her for 3 1/2 years. This year God is so good to us that Eunice goes into VCS and she just need to attend school for Mon/Wed. Then I have more time to be with her alone. At first, I think it is not good to go to school only on Mon/Wed/alternate Friday. But now I like it very much. Thanks God! Hopefully I can have more time with Eunice to build a stronger relationship with her.

Ready to "Back to School"

When you go to the shopping mall, you will see "Back to School" everywhere. Are you ready? Maybe you are or maybe you are not.

As a mother of two, I am not quite ready for both of my kids "Back to School". HAHAHA!!! Eunice is going to the new school (VCS) on Sept 3 and same as Isaac is going to a new place (Brainbridge) on the same day. Eunice's schedule is 8:45 - 12:00 and Isaac's 9:30 - 11:00 for the first 2 weeks on Mon, Wed and Fri. After the first two weeks, they will be in full schedule. Eunice is from 8:45 - 3:00pm and Isaac is 9:15 - 11:45am. It seems to me that I have almost 2 1/2 hrs "kids free". On the other hand, I miss them a lot because both of them go to school together and leave me "alone" at home. Although I will have a lot of housework to do, I will not have Eunice or Isaac to call "mom .... " or Isaac is playing alone or Eunice is drawing on the table etc... There will be an adjustment for me as well as Eunice and Isaac. Of course, as an adult, it will be easier and faster to adjust. I talked to one of Eunice's pre-school teacher about my feeling. Then she said she never think about this on a mother's eyes. She said that you may be more cherish the time with them after school.

Have you ever cherish the time with your parents after school or work? They may miss you while you are away from them. May be we should spend some quality time with them!

Sleeping alone :)

Both Eunice and Isaac have been co-sleeping with me since birth. We have a big breakthrough this few months.

Eunice - the tough one --- >>>

Fact : After we came back from Toronto in May, Eunice was very cranky for no reason. On May 11 (I can't remember the exact day-- mid May), she had a very bad temper and made Andrew so mad. That night, Andrew was so angry that he asked me to clean up the spare room and let Eunice to sleep by herself afterward. Eunice was crying and crying and it did not help to change the situation. Anyway, I cleaned up the room the next morning and put the new bedding for Eunice. Then that night she started to sleep by herself. It was not easy for her because she got used to sleep with me and Isaac. That night, she said "goodbye" for more than 15 minutes; walked in and out her room for more than 10 times; woke up in the middle of the night for more than 4 times (actually every 2 hours). It was stressful for Andrew and me but we need to insist. This pattern was lasted for 2 weeks. Well! Of course it was getting better day after day but still woke up in the middle of the night.

Evaluation : Andrew and I had an evaluation after 2 weeks. We found out that we might need to stay with Eunice for a little while and then leave the room. It definitely helped a lot esp. in the middle of the night but still woke up 1-2 times. Hugh improvement! One funny thing happened was when Eunice woke up in the morning around 5-6am, she would bring her pillow and blanket and jacket to my room and slept with us until around 9:00am. The pattern was lasted 3 weeks (almost to middle of June)

Improvement : After Eunice's graduation party, she had 2-week holiday. No school...means more time to play ... Isaac still had his naptime but Eunice did not need to have one. What should I do? For the first week of holiday, I co-sleep with them as before. Eunice said that it was morning time not night time so she could sleep with me. I said OKOK... Suddenly the second week of holiday, I asked Eunice to take care of Isaac at his naptime. I had to fold all the clothes in the next room. She said OK. Then she fell asleep. After this happened, Isaac said that he could sleep by himself. Eunice said the same time too (in the naptime). I was so surprised that they both fell asleep without me.

Isaac - the easy one --->>>

At this age of Isaac, he is quite a copycat. After observing Eunice for almost 2 months, he suddenly told me that he did not need me to stay with him. Isaac said to me that he is a big boy now and can sleep by himself. I was hesitated but still gave him a try. He has been slept by himself since July 2 (5 days already ... way to go Isaac!)

Situation now : It was almost 2-month "training" for Eunice. She slept through night (1 woke up in the middle of the night but fell asleep right away or sometimes even did not wake up at all). We just need to say "goodnight" to both Isaac and Eunice and they went to bed by themselves.

Thanksgiving : In the beginning, I told myself that I hope Eunice can sleep by herself before September. Now she just need to have 2 months. I don't expect to train Isaac to sleep by himself at this time since he is still little. He can sleep by himself out of my expectation. Thanks God for His mercy & grace on our family.

Graduation Day

Hannah & Eunice

Get the cert from Teacher May.

Eunice and her favourite teachers -- Teacher Cindy (Sitting besides her) and Teacher Doris (Behind Teacher Cindy)

Eunice drew this girl that representing herself. Pink dress, pink hands, pink shoes and pink eye glasses.

Eunice graduated from preschool. She was so excited about it. She told me that she had to wear pretty dress. She had to sing some songs. There was a stage that she would walk up and get the certificate from Teacher May. Eunice said, "I am a big girl now. I shall be going to the big school (means Kindergarten) in Sept. I can do everything by myself now."

VCS Screening Day

Eunice will be attending the Vancouver Christian School in Sept 08. Today is the screening day. The purpose of the screening day is to let the teacher to know the basic ability of the kid such as language (communication), social etc... I told Eunice a few days ago about the screening day. Just to get her to prepare her heart. She was OK.

By the time we arrived the VCS, she was OK. She was a little bit shy (no crying) which was OK to me. It was because this was her first time experience. When the teacher asked them to go to the classroom, she started to cry. She wanted me to stay with her (normal reaction - I know she will say it.) She kept on crying for a few minutes and I just let her cry in the classroom and I left her alone with the teachers. I actually had to another session to meet the Vice Princpal of the school. Anyway, when we met again in about 45 minutes, I asked her how long did she cry. She told me that right after I left and she enjoyed the drawing, story time, talk to the teacher, meet new friends in the classroom. Then I asked her again whether she liked the school or not. She told me that she liked it very much. Thanks God!

This is how her hair style is and she chose her own clothes to wear.

Eye-glasses for Eunice

After the eye operation for Eunice in Sept 2006, the Eye Specialist (Dr. Rees) had a few follow up examinations on Eunice's eyes. She found out that Eunice may have to wear glasses. On Feb 18, 08, we went to see Dr. Rees and she told us that Eunice need to wear glasses. Andrew and I were a little worried about how Eunice's reaction. However, Eunice was very positive about the glasses.

Today we went to have another test for Eunice after she wore the glasses. She was great. She just need to wear the glasses for a while for her eye development.

First visit to the dentist

When we told Eunice that she had a chance to be a flower girl in the wedding, we asked her to the dentist to clean her teeth. She accepted it right away. So I called our dentist Dr. KK Chan (David Chan) for an appointment on Feb 22.

This morning, I told Eunice that we have to go to the dentist. She was very excited. Usually when she woke up in the morning, she would go to the washroom and brush her teeth. This morning, she told me that she didn't need to brush her teeth because she was going to the dentist's place and he would brush for her. Actually, I was more nervous than Eunice. I just didn't know how she would behave in the dentist's office.

When we arrived the dentist's office, she was so happy. She said hi to Dr. Chan and Esther (the dental assistance). Then she just sat on the chair by herself. Very brave! She lay down and have Dr. Chan to check the teeth. "Open your dinosaur mouth!" I said and she opened the mouth really wide. When Dr. Chan used the electric brush to clean her teeth, she was a little bit nervous. So far she was doing GREAT. After cleaning, she kept on holding the mirror and looked at her teeth. So CLEAN! She was so happy with a very nice smile.

(P.S. Isaac has his teeth checked too. He just opened his mouth but refused to sit on the chair. They both have a present from Dr. Chan.)

Ballet

Eunice learnt ballet since last Oct. At first, she said that she wanted to learn ballet. I was so surprised. I thought she was kidding or maybe some of her schoolmates were learning and she wanted to try. So Andrew and I decided to register her to the community centre ballet class. It was only 35 minutes per week. For the first class of ballet, she was excited that morning. When she arrived the classroom, she asked whether I could stay. I told her that I couldn't. Then she cried. Actually, she cried for the first 6 classes. Not a surprise to me. She liked dancing but she also wanted to have me in the classroom. Anyway, the first 6 classes were ended before Winter holiday. We asked Eunice again whether she wanted to continue. Surprise!!! She wanted to continue. She started ballet class in January 2008. She was so enjoy. We were so happy. But if you ask her to dance in front of you, you may need to be patience. She's still a little bit shy...

Christmas Party at Preschool

Eunice had a Christmas Celebration at her Preschool on Dec 20. So how she got a stomach flu that day. She was vomiting whenever after eating and was complaining her stomach plan. When I told her that not to go for the Christmas Party. She refused. She was looking forward the Christmas party for the whole week. Anyway, we end up going to the school. She was excited in the first part of the program (a skit). The skit was about the born of Jesus. She was a pinky pig. I didn't take the photo of her because we were recording video.

Then we were having a light dinner. Actually she did not want to eat but we knew that she was hungry. We tried to give her something to eat but after a while she vomit all out. We asked her to go home but she refused again. It was because the third part of the program was Christmas Carol. This was how she looked like during the Christmas Carol. Not too bad... At least she would do some action with the other kids.

Almost the end of the program, she came to me and said that her stomach was painful again. So we just went home just about 5 minutes earlier than other guests.

PS. This was not a very good Christmas party for her on that night. When she was getting better a few days later, she kept on singing the Christmas songs.

Art Attack

Recently Eunice likes spelling. She liked colouring since she was 2. Then she asked us to draw pictures for her and she drew different kinds of pictures. Now she likes to spell. She spells our family's names including all the relatives and her favourite cantoon characters (Mickey, Minnie, Donald etc...). She does not spell out loud to me but to write down on her notebook. Let's take a look on her notebook and her pictures.

Pumpkin Patch

Eunice's preschool went to have the Pumpkin patch at Frog Hollow neighbour house. She was so excited because she never had this activity before. After the patch, she told him that she had the face painting on both cheeks and hands. She had snacks at school; games at the Frog Hollow and gifts from the teachers. She was so happy and tired.
Oh! I forgot to mention the pumpkin. Of course, she had a big round pumpkin from the patch. She brought it to grandma's house that night. I asked her whether she wanted to leave it to grandma and she said yes. After dinner, she changed her mind and wanted to bring home. We had to think how to deal with this big round pumpkin. Any suggestions..!!!

Year-end Picnic

Eunice finished her first year preschool at two schools. She spent 2 months at the Killarney Community Centre and the rest 8 months at the Brainbridge. When I looked at Eunice now and 10 months ago, I felt that I was old... Eunice learnt so much things from school not only academic but also emotional and physical. From crying and crying in the beginning to saying "goodbye" to me was a big milestone for me and her. She really enjoyed school and played with her friends. When she got back home, she also liked to play with Isaac.

On June 19th, it was the year-end picnic at Riverfront park. It was so sunny. Eunice wore her favouite Mickey T-shirt. She just ran, jumped, played with other kids. Great fun!!!

Goodbye Teacher Sandy

One of Eunice's favourite teacher is leaving the preschool. She is Teacher Sandy. We took some pictures with her and said goodbye.
